Update Your Skincare Routine for Autumn

October 8, 2019 by admin

Are you “fall-ing” in love with everything autumn? Long gone are the hot days of summer, and now it’s time for sweaters, booties, and steaming lattes.

Sadly, you can’t carry over your summer skincare routine into autumn and expect the same results. The cool temperature of autumn can dry out your skin, leaving it flaky and dull. Our beauty experts here at the Beauty Lounge have some tips to keep your skin glowing long after summer has ended!

moisturizer

Slather on That Moisturizer

Your skin deserves extra care when the weather gets cooler. Thicker moisturizers are best for autumn, because cool air sucks moisture from your skin. Consider adding eye cream to your routine to give the delicate areas of your face some extra hydration.

The sudden change of temperature as we transition from summer to fall can cause your skin to be extra-sensitive. If you experience any burning sensation when applying your moisturizer, switch to a sensitive skin brand to calm that irritation.

Your face isn’t the only thing that needs moisture; give your body some love, too! Shea butter body lotions are great for skin that’s over-exfoliated and dry, because the fatty acids and vitamins in this product will soften your skin to perfection. Try applying body lotion once a day after showering, because your skin will better lock in moisture after all that steam.

Exfoliate

Less Exfoliation, Please!

Exfoliating your skin is a great way to remove dead skin cells and get your glow on. But over-exfoliating, especially during the colder months, can dry out your skin and cause damage. Stick to gently exfoliating just once a week, and consider oil-based scrubs that exfoliate and moisturize your skin all at once!

 Humidifier

Consider a Humidifier

With cold weather comes dry air, and sometimes, even moisturizers and body lotions aren’t enough to keep your skin healthy. We recommend investing in a humidifier and placing it by your bed. Humidifiers release moisture into the air, so your skin will continue to hydrate overnight.

Facial

Fall Hair Color Trends That Will “Leaf” You Speechless

October 31, 2018 by admin

Leaves don’t have to be the only thing changing color this fall.

The transition away from summer inspires darker colors to match the cooling temperatures. At the Beauty Lounge, we offer fall-inspired hair colors and techniques that are as trendy as a pumpkin spice latte. These are our favorite hair colors, inspired by our favorite parts of the new season.

RED VELVET

Second only to eating the cake itself, Red Velvet is the sweet hair color for those who want to add more red into their current color. With a variety of shades, you can choose anything between standout and subtle. We love this trend because blondes and brunettes alike can take a bite and enjoy.

TOASTED COCONUT

This hair color trend is made for those who aren’t ready to let summer go. This low-maintenance ombre is ideal for brunettes who want to go “bronde.” It can also be stunning with auburn or blonde hair. No matter the length of your hair, this color is the perfect way to say goodbye to summer.

FLANNEL

Inspired by everyone’s favorite fall clothing, “Flannel” is the perfect fall hair color for anyone who loves sweaters and drinking hot apple cider.  The combination of burnt copper, auburn, deep red, and mulled wine hues create a warm, cozy color. Our favorite part about this color is that the variations of each of the shades can be changed depending on if your skin tone is warmer or cooler.

COLD BREW

In New England, we drink iced coffee all year-round. Why not match your hair with your favorite drink? The “Cold Brew” hair color trend is inspired by the swirling of milk and flavor into your coffee. Lighter hair colors should focus on the highlights to create a golden tone whereas darker hair colors would use neutral-toned highlights. We love that you can be inspired by your favorite coffee flavors to create a beautiful, rich color.

Feel inspired yet? Schedule your appointment with the Beauty Lounge for all your hair care needs.
